G-20 Legislation Unveiled

Here is the bill making it illegal to wear a mask or hood for the purposes of concealing one's identity with the intent to commission an unlawful act: PDF.

Here is the bill making it illegal to possess tools or devices intended to obstruct people from moving freely, noxious substances, launching devices, and gas masks: PDF.

Here is the bill making it possible for Pittsburgh to borrow officers from other cities, though portions seem missing and it does not deal with insurance and liability: PDF.

Here are some news articles: Post-Gazette, Tribune-Review.

"I want to be supportive (of the mayor's bills) and at the same time give people the right to a peaceful protest," said Councilwoman Theresa Smith. "There's too much at stake here to be playing political games. (Trib, Adam Brandolph)

Aw, man! Again? Just once, I would like to hear somebody declare, "Now is the time to play political games!"

  1. I voted for you at the sidebar (not that it was enough to narrow Bill's lead), but I still refuse to follow anybody on Twitter until it has existed for about 3 years or so.

  2. "No portion of this section shall be construed so as to punish constitutionally protected speech."

Then WTF is the purpose of this bullshit then?

If someone is peacefully protesting and happens to be wearing a mask or a bandanna because they WANT to are they going to be arrested and then have to go through tons of bullshit and fines???

  3. I would think that if you believe strongly about an issue, and you are operating within the boundaries of the law, there is no need to wear a mask or cover your face. No masks. Those are the rules. If you don't like it, you are welcome to spend some time in the pokey. The only bullshit I see btezra is anarchy.

  4. I'm strongly considering investing in a gas mask, though it will likely be homespun and of poor quality. I will not be using it with an intent to commission an illegal act.

  5. My plan is to stay east of Negley from Sep. 23 through the 25th.
