Echoes from the past

"He dishonored ... the people he served with. He just sold them out."

This is how George W. Bush won a second term in office. More on John Kerry: Link

  1. Just for the record . . . I have yet to see the link (other than speculation) that the Wagner campaign is, indeed, linked to the Ravenstahl ads. When you find it, let us all know. And re all the RINO charges, is this where we throw out into the blogosphere that Peduto WAS a (real) Republican during his time as a student at Penn State?

    1. My impression is that between the support of State Sen. Jim Ferlo at the Ravenstahl's tightly held URA, and of City Intergovernmental Affairs Manager ("no. 3")Paul McKrell; and the small-town nature of political Pittsburgh, we can safely assume a degree of "coordination" is in effect between the two campaigns. Whether the safety of that assumption is enough to "confirm" any formal coordination to any given forum's standards is not my concern here.

  2. When all you've got is what somebody did in college, you should just give it up.

  3. That's RIGHT. Just shrug off everything in Peduto's past. It means nothing. Just focus on the hearsay and innuendo about Wagner.

  4. I'm not at all focused on the hearsay and innuendo about Wagner. I won't vote for Wagner because he wouldn't run when Ravenstahl was in the race.

  5. Even if a candidate has no formal link to an outside group's ad campaign on his behalf, he can always state in public in no uncertain terms that he doesn't want that sort of help and he wishes they would shut down that campaign and not do it again. Candidates should probably do that more often than they do, but often they are reluctant to offend the outside group and/or its sympathizers.

  6. Peduto would have been better served running in the general. he chose to not seek the endorsement yet he rallies state reps, the epitome machine pols, to his side. he pretends he's not a career politician but he is! this is a man seeking a political identity. he hasn't managed to stand out while on council being only a marginally better councilor than the newcomers Rudiak and Lavelle! At least on the general he could get the RINO's and Indies. his campaign has been extremely divisive and serves no one! divisive on council divisive in campaign. Bill Peduto is a Divider!

    1. Peduto has never claimed he's not a career politician. I think he's trying to imply he has not been a career hack.

  7. Josh Wander is going to get all the R votes. Is there a group of people dedicated to "whatever someone says about Wagner, I'll repeat it about Peduto?" I wonder because I got a phone survey that carefully went down how convincing I would find various attacks about Peduto and people keep putting up the same issues here with varying connections to reality. I suppose the same things are on the TV and I'd notice if I wasn't watching Netflix instead.

  8. Maybe, except they took 15 minutes and asked a lot of questions about what sorts of good things I would find convincing about Wagner. Also, good things about Peduto, but no bad things about Wagner.

  9. Peduto is definitely a career hack, just a hack for different people, that is all.

  10. From what I can tell Shawn Carter in advance of the Luke ad stated the very same truths! What gets me is the OWS storm troopers getting their little anarchists all in a tizzy on both the post gazette and at the comet! This folks is what you get with Bill Peduto! Remember he was a big OWS guy.But then bill also went to NYC with Fitz the Great for the ringing of the bell at the S&P. So is Bill a hypocrite or is he just playing both sides. Just the same is this what we want for mayor.

    1. For the record, I'm pretty sure we never saw or heard from him at Occupy Pittsburgh. And I don't think you have the slightest respect for the truth, Luke.
