We've Heard, Competition is Good

Better deals... quicker results... more varied architecture... more desperate businesspeople.

"The bottom line is that we're in the middle of a very successful development here, and I don't know why anybody would want to change developers at this point," [Art Rooney II] said. (P-G, Jon Schmitz)

Really, he doesn't see it?

I'm typically in favor of the NS development plan, but I gotta say I like Stabile in this one. This is exactly what Pittsburgh has been waiting for. Give credit where credit is due and the Steelers and Continental deserve some. Finally, we have developers competing over parcels of land. That is a true indicator that things are going well. Let the games begin!

After reading the Stabile profile in Sunday's PG I had two thoughts: 1) that's interesting, I always wondered about Stabile's background and clout, and 2) why the hell should I care about a few rich guys' pissing match?

Anon: You should care because we have been giving away sweetheart land deals to Millionaire and Billionaire (Burkle) team owners. Remember the Pens have an even better deal; they have a 15 million kitty to "buy" the 28 acres of the lower hill.

I care because I like competition. Why give one guy a monopoly in a pretty valuable area? Seriously I think that's even more important than the $8 million difference or whatever it is.

Yes, a healthy competition always becomes successful. I'll bet on it, just like anybody else.
