  5. Much respect to Dowd for running and calling attention to the big problems that we have here in Pittsburgh. Luke finally signed the campaign finance reform bill because PD called him out and forced his hand.

Thank you PD. Glad you will still be around on council!

  6. Which one of you genuses scoffed at me when I suggested Dowd would not capture more than 40% of the vote? Who will now admit such foolishness?

Let this be a lesson to you: idealism never wins elections. Campaigning does. Dream big and run a campaign to win.

  7. Who really cares? We knew Luke would run away with the D nod. It was a 10-1 money advantage and against an incumbent. 40% still shows a lot.

Now add that 40% to the (R) side and add in the (I)'s and a sprinkle of Steeler magic and look what we have? Dok Harris? He's just like Luke except he's smart. Half of Pittsburgh will think he is a Steeler and vote for him anyways.

He's got the dumb yinser vote.

  8. Is Peduto the big winner tonight (by not running for Mayor and get a relatively anti-Boy Mayor Council)?

The Boy Mayor may turn out to be the long-term loser, given the lack of coattails (e.g. Payne and Coghill).

  9. What really irritates me is that PCNC, with the political guru (LOL) Bill Green were reporting results with 12% in while the County Website Elections Department page were reporting 90%. Wouldn't ya think someone at PXI would have the common sense to have their computers directed to the Elections site and hit the update button every few minutes (as I did) to get accurate and up-to-the-minute results? I wonder how they could have been so far behind? For instance, Bill Green was saying that Payne would win the race "because she is the endorsed democrat and the numbers are early" when in real time, Lavelle was never behind and 96 percent was in. Green was reading very early numbers and saying that although Lavelle was ahead, many more precincts were still out and Payne would gain the lead. What a joke Bill Green and that broadcast are. And at another point, a screen graphic and David Johnson referring to Blotzer as 'Blauser". Do our newscaster not even know the candidates names?

  10. uh.. I hate to tell you that PCNC basically reran there earlier program at 10pm. So you were watching the rerun of the earlier show.

  11. No I am talking about the live show. Not the rerun.

  12. A ,little after 9:30, the county Department of Elections Webpage was listing the District 6 race with 96% of the precints in and the District 4 race with 100% in ... yet at that same moment, Bill Green was saying how 'early' it was and that he expects Payne to win. And Natalia was already a clear winner in the 4th, yet the PCNC numbers and Green's 'analysis' would have you believe that it was a fluke that she was leading, with Green wondering 'what precincts in the 19th Ward' aren't in yet. He and the PCNC elections program is always a joke. This election coverage took the cake.

  13. I can accept baby huey as the democratic nominee - which effectively wraps up the mayoral race -, due to the replacement of two pro-administration councilpersons with those who *seemingly* have no allegiance to anyone other than their constituents.

So we have Dowd, Burgess, Shields, Lavelle, Rudiak and Peduto versus Smith and sometimes Harris and Kraus.

  14. I would say that Rudiak will probably side with Shields and Peduto, the Burgess, Lavelle, Dowd and Kraus would likely lean towards voting with them most of the time, and that Harris will mostly vote with Smith (who will represnt the Mayor's position). Clearly the balance of Council has shifted (further) away from the Mayor.

  15. phyla, perhaps?

And I could see Shields and Smith marginalized, as if opposite ends to the bell curve. Everyone else will be aboard the Peduto train, on their way to taking the planning out of the URA and into the planning department, professionalizing Public Works, open-source documentation, public-private partnerships, non-profits expanding social services to the city in lieu of taxation and listening to another "this day in pittsburgh history" at the conclusion to every council meeting. I'm pretty sure Motznik will miss those.

  16. Anyone who thinks that Theresa Smith is locked in with the Mayor is crazy. She has that clown Pete Wagner whispering in her left ear.

  17. LUKE RAVENSTAHL FOR MAYOR!!
Luke you have been doing a wonderful job, I just seen Harris's
commercial and I was so disturbed.
    It was a NO-CLASS and a low-blow
commercial. I don't like people who play dirty, and Harris is already throwing mud. You are one person, how does he expect the mayor to go to every crime scene to talk to the family?? That is so unreal. Luke you do your job above and beyond. Keep your head up!

  18. LUKE YOU HAVE BEEN A BLESSING FOR OUR CITY, YOU ARE DOING A WONDERFUL JOB! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
