No record is left of there having been a comment above, because I instinctively jumped to hit the "Delete Comment Forever?" option because it was just SO ignorant.
And this is a good opportunity to introduce the new Pittsburgh Comet comment policy!
New policy:
1. I will moderate comments.
2. I will not publish any comments that I don't like.
Nothing gold can stay. Maybe if things chill down, I'll stop moderating comments in advance, but I'll still delete anything I don't like. That will include things such as when the repetitive Coghill or Matt H taunting gets extra, EXTRA repetitive and annoying. Sorry if this seems "undemocratic", but I will strive to be a benevolent, enlightened dictator. There are other blogs.
As someone who operates a message board in another life, I can say that you've truly hit the big time when moderating comments/posts takes up most of your time.
So Matt Merriman-Preston said that people in Natalia Rudiak’s (sp?) district were/are tired of political infighting. Except that political writers (like Chris Potter) are suggesting she won because of the fighting between Reilly and Coghill. Also he is saying that voters in the individual district races are sending the message that they want good government (except perhaps in District 2, and in the City as a whole).
I don’t know what the story was in District 6, but evidently just enough people decided Lavalle would actually represent *them*. I would accept Potter’s analysis of Rudiak’s race, and his comment that Blotzer did not knock on enough doors. Which could also be a complaint about Patrick Dowd. There were negative elements to his campaign (which is good, IMO) but he didn’t get enough boots on the ground. I was actually visited by a Ravenstahl volunteer, but never by a Dowd volunteer.
And of the various Matt’s, if Merriman-Preston did take his wife’s name, good for him (not that I would ever do that, make me seem too much like a fairy). And apparently Matt H has taken his marbles and gone home, at least for now… Who knows, maybe when he grows up he will become Peter Boyle.
I mean, I personally think it's STUPID, but there's nothing WRONG with it. The commenter didn't use any ugly, hateful slurs that go well over the line and incidentally obviously do not apply.
Ha! That's why I wouldn't allow anonymous comments. It seems that obnoxious commentators tend to be lazy and/or cowards. Personally, I'm a fan of actual productive conversation.
I think JK still shows up in the stat counter sometimes. Maybe he got tired of his comments being removed when they went overboard, but he can't tear himself away entirely.

His flashy self!
ReplyDeleteSo can we still mention Matt H if it's not repetitive? He's such a slick liar that it would be a shame to banish any mention of him.
ReplyDeleteI am sure we will all forget about Coghill after awhile.
I just deleted a comment. Wow that was ignorant.

Yes, absolutely. Nothing wrong with that comment.
